Our original café in downtown Kalamazoo opened in 1993. Located on the corner of Kalamazoo Avenue and Water Street, just next to the train tracks and across the street from Bell’s Brewery (If you ever get the chance to try it, we highly recommend their Java Stout, made with Water Street Coffee Joint coffee!), this brick building was originally a gas station, built in 1934.
This location offers our house-roasted fresh brewed coffees and espresso drinks, shakes and smoothies made with Palazzolo’s gelatos and sorbettos, soups, salads, savories and the most incredible desserts, all made by hand with love, small batches and real ingredients in our own kitchen. We also sell our freshly-roasted beans and a very cool and ever-changing selection of travel mugs and coffee paraphernalia. Art shows at both Water Street Coffee Joint locations change every two months and feature area artists in a variety of media.
